PLEASE NOTE: Important Information

The application process at North Sydney Boys High School IS DIFFERENT to other selective high schools. Please follow the instructions below carefully.

Conditions may apply to students who are not citizens or permanent residents of Australia or citizens of New Zealand. You can review the different visa conditions at Visa subclasses and enrolment conditions to see if your son is eligible to apply.

The application process has 3 steps:

Step 1: Register for the test

Entry to North Sydney Boys High School is primarily based on the results of the entrance exam. This test is conducted by Edutest and registration and payment of $180 is to be made directly to Edutest on their web site.

You must register and pay for each school you are applying for with Edutest, however you only need to sit the test once.

The school you register with first is the school where you will sit the test. This doesn’t need to be your first preference school. You must register and pay the combined application processing fee and Edutest fee of $180 by credit card directly to Edutest using this link: https://aus.edutest.com.au/D/?t=ia0ww2an

Interstate or overseas applicants please email: remote@edutest.com.au immediately after registering, as remote testing incurs an additional fee. Please note, remote testing has a longer process time so please ensure you register early and contact Edutest at least 2 weeks prior to the exam date.

For 2027 applications, students who apply for North Sydney Boys High School AND any of the schools listed below will undertake the Edutest exam once:

Test registration and payment via the Edutest website is open from 17 June 2026 to 24 July 2026. No late applications will be accepted.

General information about Edutest testing is available at the Edutest parent page at this link.

Once you have registered for North Sydney Boys High School with Edutest, you do not need to provide us with any other forms. Please note, this process is different for other schools you may be applying for.

Step 2: Sitting the test

The details of the test are:

Test date: Saturday 15 August 2026

Start time: Students to arrive at 8:45 am for registration; 9:00am test start

Finish time: Approximately 12:00pm

Venue: AF Henry Hall at North Sydney Boys High School

On the test day, students must bring:

No calculators are permitted.

The test will include the following five (5) sections:

Each section is 30 minutes long.

Online practice tests are available for purchase from the Edutest website. Overseas and interstate students should contact remote@edutest.com.au to arrange a local testing location as soon as you have registered with Edutest. Requests for remote testing must be emailed no later than 2 weeks prior to the school's examination date.

Applications will close on Friday 24 July 2026. Applicants will then be contacted by Edutest with further details on the exam process.

Step 3: Results and shortlisting

The school’s selection panel will convene to evaluate the test results. A shortlist will be created; only shortlisted students will be asked to complete an application form with further details. Interviews may be held to determine the outcome and a Reserve List for each year will be determined.

Students will be advised in writing if they were unsuccessful or if they have been placed on the Reserve List. Students on the Reserve List will be contacted during Term 4 if a place becomes available.

Further information on the general enrolment process can be obtained from the High Performing Students Unit.

Please see below when our next 2027 Enrolment Open Morning will be held.

Inclusive Education Unit Enrolments

Support students do participate in whole-school events such as carnivals, co-curricular projects, extra-curricular activities, integrated sport and camps.

Please note the school does not hold separate Open Days for Support students. Once you are offered a position you will be invited to attend an Orientation Program.
